KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
• Provide technical direction for the product development, design, and systems integration from definition phase through implementation for client engagement.
• Track and identify key trends, analyze to identify opportunities for continuous improvement and drive for quality.
• Conduct risk analysis to achieve smooth and defect free “PD to shipment” process
• Own the development life cycle and is responsible for managing technical risks throughout the project for all construction, sewing challenges (including quality of the stitching and ensuring we are using the correct apparatus).
• Manage fit sessions with Design and Product Development; maximize fit session productivity and schedule follow-up fits for corrections as needed.
• Be able to accurately assess garments for fit, spec, and shape; measure samples, create specs, finalize grading, identify issues.
• Create and design patterns from first patterns.
• Fit garments on model to determine corrections and recommend corrections to Designer.
• Identify, coordinate and resolve corrections/problems with Sample Maker.
• Identify and communicate styling and fit issues with buyer.
• Evaluate, create and implement standard grading rules to ensure consistency in fit and contribute actively in terms of fit/principal pattern guidelines.
• Understand and consider relationship between pattern/material usage/yields during pattern creation as it relates to margins.
• Consult and train Marketing, Design, Product Developer on pattern and fit updates and issue resolution.
• Develops training plans and manuals for the global pattern and Product Development teams.
• Work on an ongoing basis on new solutions to reach creative pattern goals, by using new methods and systems and/or new construction.
QUALIFICATIONS
• B. Tech Textile Engineering diploma
• Must have at least three years of technical product design and pattern-making experience
• Knowledge of raw materials and manufacturing process with textile technology
• Must understand fit, specs, grade rules, and be able to conduct garment fittings and communicate fit corrections
• Preferably with knowledge of various 2-D and/or 3-D CAD or PDM software packages
• 10+ years’ experience in technical, R&D, Product Development
• Must have strong technical knowledge of garment construction, fabrics, and tech packs
• Successful experience in leading apparel fitting with ability to handle volume in fitting process in active wear, sportswear, athleisure wear, outerwear
• Experience in men’s, lady’s and plus size
