Objective of job

China is the fastest growing and the largest market in the world, especially the NEV segment,  In-depth understanding of the market is crucial for our company success in the market. A set of comprehensive China specific product strategy and requirements is essential to the future success of Mercedes-Benz in China.

This set of China specific strategy and requirements derived from future trend and key customer journey in a descriptive way need to be provided to the relevant functions in China and Germany, which also covers from working level to high level product decision committees. In such way, an aligned China voice need to be ensured as the prerequisite for any feature development, optimization, prioritization and iteration, and also take into consideration of cross carline offering and implementation strategy, the China fit solutions then to be implemented into the first possible carlines or MBOS.

In light of the EV transformation of MB, a change of mindset is also required to embrace the “data driven decision”, and for all topic domains, a clear definition of target from business perspective and RD perspective is essential to pave the way for executable KPIs and deliverables and ultimately drive for decision and through consistent monitoring of the KPIs to drive further optimization.

This position is responsible for governing the China requirement process, supporting vertical domain owners with their specific topics, and delivering high quality of requirement content with clear target setting that caters business goal, and also with best described use case and customer journey that reflects customer benefit. At the same time, this position is also responsible for feature performance KPI tracking, gap analysis of KPI deviation, investigation of potential cause and improvement proposal alignment.

Upon completion of requirement process, the new requirements based on customer journey and need, the tracking of KPI & improvement plan need to be presented to top management for decision. This preparation and facilitation for the decision round is also need to taken care of by this position.

In parallel, in the Smart cabin/MBOS area, this position is also responsible for certain domain, where a systematic management of domain strategy, requirement management, and target & KPI setting is needed.

The candidate is required to possess profound expertise and knowledge in terms of knowing and explaining what is the best experience from customer pov with focus on key automotive domains and feature. The candidate should always think and act with full customer orientation and fact driven mindset and also requires to have deep industry and market insights, excellent level of automotive knowledge especially on the trending topics like AD, digital cabin and etc.

Main tasks

1. Review and analysis of market insights focusing on specific China related needs
In-depth market data and findings review analysis and compilation of complete findings focusing on the identification of China specific needs ought to be conducted.

2. China specific requirement development
Based customer journey and in-depth market analysis, China specific features should be created driven by Chinese market needs. Feature requirements should meet the local needs fully and should be described on a visual and descriptive level and communicated to the responsible development colleagues.

3. China specific features input for Concept book/performance book
Based on aligned China requirements, a well designed storyline narrating the requirements or strategy to be well communicated and acknowledged by the stakeholders in the next steps of requirement/PLS process in corresponding projects.

4. Organization of workshops and Requirement Group
In order to create actionable and measurable KPI, execution plan and improvement proposal, alignment with relevant stakeholders for all related topic domains and detailed features to be arranged, certain workshop and various requirement group discussion should be organized

Qualification

- Master degree or above in electrical engineering, mechanical engineering, Computer Science, Market Research
- 5+ years Program management, Product strategy, Product management, Research & Development in auto industry
- Fluent English, German is a plus
- Very good level of presentation skills
- Project management knowledge/skills
- Passion for “make car more fit for China”, good communication skills, potential leadership
- Strong business sense, open minded and creative thinking as well as result driven orientation
